John "I am the Pappy' Edwards Comes Clean

Former Senator John Edwards political career is over. Not so much because of politics, but it is his personal indiscretions.Senator Edward's recently admitted that he was the father of his child with Rielle Hunter.

Rielle Hunter worked in Edwards 2008 presidential campaign as a video producer.Edward's campaign aide Andrew Young was coerced to take the fall and paternity of Senator Edward's daughter. The presumption was that this would blow over, and Young would keep his mouth quiet.Wrong on many points.

Edward's had all the tools, the looks, the money, and the message that appealed to many. What he had in political savvy, he lacked in honor. The Edwards political career is damaged ,perhaps forever. Edwards is not the only presidential candidate where the illegitimacy question tarnished their presidential campaigns. In the days of old, two presidents had to answer the question. President Grover Cleveland and President Warren G. Harding both faced the illegitimacy question. The Cleveland campaign was almost derailed by the ditty "Ma, Ma ,where's my Pa" ,he weathered the storm and the victorious Democrats retorted "Gone to the White House, Ha, Ha, Ha".

Republican Senator Warren G. Harding before he was elected president in 1920 had the Nan Britton scandal. His mistress later wrote a tell all book detailing the president's sex life. The scandal subsequently died.Times have changed as we have 24 hour non stop news cycles, instant communication, and blogs to keep news stories alive. As we continue to debate the viability of John Edwards career, there is one thing that is not debatable,a little girl did not ask for all this unwanted attention.

I think it is good that Sen. Edwards finally admitted paternity of his daughter and feel sorry for his family, whom he has publicly humilated. I think this is also very unfortunate for the country because Edwards could have helped a lot of people as a persuasive and charismatic Democratic leader. This is just the latest reminder that celebrities (including politicans) are people and have personal problems and weaknesses, which are sometimes exacerbated by their fame.

I really feel for his wife and family. His behavior was vile yet I feel sadness that someone of such potential has become so broken.

My feelings: He is not the first man to cheat on his wife. It does not make it right or ok. As a matter of fact, because she had cancer makes it worse. The fact that he was playing the American public like a cheap fiddle (not even a violin) makes it just as bad. I feel bad for his wife and his children. Did she deserve this? NO. Did she know about it? Probably. What was he thinking? He needs prayer. He needs to get on his knees before The Father and really repent. His wife needs healing also. Please note, I am not about to say that she is an innocent victim in all of this. Reports state that she knew about it. The fact that she knew about it and did not put a stop to it or tolerated it speaks alot about her as well. As women we know when our men are cheating, many times we turn a blind eye to it either because we don't want to see it or we just choose to ignore it. The good thing about this is that this adultery case makes Tiger Woods not look so bad... He can always say, yeah I cheated.. with 14 women, however dude my wife did not have cancer and battling for her life. Let's not forget the other part of this...the other woman. SHe is not innocent in this at all. The only really innocent beings in this are the kids. In either case, I hope that God heals them all. Yes ALL! Including John Edwards because he is now hurting and humiliated. Pray for him.
